If you’re looking to explore Playa del Carmen beyond its well-known and gorgeous waters, this guide might help you out while doing research about which places to visit when in the area and feel like a local!
All along the famous 5th Avenue there are several spots that are quite good, but we’ll list some of our personal favorites where we go and wind down for the day with a nice cool drink.
Club De Cerveza
Right on the 5th Avenue, between 34th and 38th Streets we have one of the best places to have a Mexican crafted beer. There’s a wide selection of national beers and 60 different beers from around the world. There’s a lot of delicious food to snack on while refreshing up from a very hot day at the beach.

Las Helodias
On 28th Street just near Mamita’s Beach, there’s a very unique place where you can have a cold liter drink but also a delicious ceviche! Perfect after or before heading to the beach club.

Wah Wah Beach Bar
Right on the beach with 2nd Street you can visit this amazing bar with live music, delicious pig roast or any of the pay-per-view event that are on. It is a pretty neat place to hang around with family and friends!

Abolengo
An open air bar right on the corner of 12th Street with 1st Avenue with an old cantina style.
It is kind of loud since it is right on where the most popular bars, so the later it is, the louder it gets! They offer light food, in case you’re a little bit hungry but be sure to get there before 10 PM to catch a table!

Don Mezcal
A small bar but with a pretty good vibe right on 10th Street, with several drinks and cocktails that obviously feature some mescal! This is a good option if you’re getting ready for the night or just want to hang out with some friends for a while.

Now, when enjoying the nightlife at Playa del Carmen you better listen to some of these tips and advice!
Drinking on any venue located at the 5th Avenue is not cheap at all, but cocktails usually fall around 80 to 120 MXN. So better choose wisely to get a great quality drink along with an outstanding atmosphere!
Most bars are open until 2 AM, but people regularly tend to visit bars just to hang around with friends after/before going to dinner or before moving to one of the popular clubs.
Most bars are located on the 5th Avenue, 12th Street and 10th Street. Keep an eye open for the good stuff!
